Imperial Front Wing. RANS
Open in Flow360
The Imperial Front Wing is a publicly documented F1-style multi-element front-wing geometry tested over a moving ground, with strongly three-dimensional flow dominated by the endplate and underwing vortices in the near wake. The Flow360 setup is a steady RANS solution with the k-omega SST turbulence model on a GAI (Geometry AI) mesh at a freestream velocity of 25 m/s. Flow360's surface flow and downstream wake velocity fields are compared against experimental flow-vis and PIV data, as well as an OpenFOAM reference. Flow360 reproduces the experimental wake-vortex structure and closely matches OpenFOAM in vortex position, peak vorticity, and integrated wing downforce and drag.
