ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Build Your Agent-Driven Engineering Team

Agentic design is where photonic engineering is heading. An agent that can propose a design, simulate it, evaluate the result, and iterate on its own gives you engineering capacity that works through the night, runs hundreds of studies over a weekend, and shows up Monday with results.

Making this work at engineering-grade requires a simulation engine fast enough to give an agent real feedback on each iteration, compute infrastructure built to run those simulations at scale, and AI agents capable of driving design decisions without human input at every step. Our technology was built for exactly this from the ground up. GPU-native simulation, scalable compute, and agentic tooling that connects directly to your design environment.

We have been building and deploying this across complex photonic design workflows, and the foundation is ready. At this workshop, we are opening up everything we have built. Flexcompute engineers will walk you through the exact steps to build agents that fully automate your photonic design workflows. What took us months to develop, you will leave knowing how to deploy yourself.

Workshop Agenda

Session 01 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM 60 min

Overview of How to Set Up Agentic Workflows

We walk through what it actually means for an AI agent to behave like an engineer — how to configure the loop, connect it to a simulation backend, and define what success looks like. We cover the framework built on Tidy3D and PhotonForge, and show published results across passive device design, modulator optimization, and chip routing.

Session 02 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM 30 min

Live Demo: Y-Splitter Optimization

Watch the agent run a full design study autonomously — geometry definition, FDTD simulation, performance evaluation, iteration. No manual steps between cycles.

Session 03 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM 90 min

Hands-On Lab: Run the Agent Yourself

You configure and run the workflow. Point the agent at a design problem, connect it to Tidy3D, and work through the loop with Flexcompute engineers in the room. Bring your laptop.
