PIC design with PhotonForge - Session 1

This seminar provides an in-depth look at how foundry-provided Process Design Kits (PDKs) are integrated within PhotonForge to build accurate simulation models. Showcase how to leverage the technology stack to design new photonic components, incorporate them into their design library, and utilize technology updates to study the impact of fabrication variations on PIC performance.

PhotonForge is a unified platform for fabrication-aware photonic design. It accelerates your photonic device design process by seamlessly integrating with simulation tools -Tidy3D FDTD, mode, heat, and RF solver. With built-in access to foundry PDKs, PhotonForge simplifies the transition from design to fabrication. In this seminar, we cover the basics of PhotonForge with an overview of its central concepts and how to get started quickly in photonic integrated circuit design. We will use an interferometer as an example to go from layout to component- and circuit-level simulations and explore parametric geometry and models for design optimization.
